Julie Beal

Herbalist, Veterinary Herbalist, Educator

Julie’s journey has brought her full circle with the plants. She has always loved learning, nature, plants, animals and people. In high school, she worked at a local garden center and florist. She took vocational classes in greenhouse management, floristry and forestry. This led her to studying at UNH, doing research in the environmental field, and earning a degree in Plant Biology. As life changed, so did her path, and she went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. She has worked in the hospital setting (medical-surgical), emergency medicine, pediatrics and community nursing. After 15 years as a nurse and further life changes, she made the decision to look at how she could continue to help people, but to help them heal at a deeper level. This led her back to the plants and to Misty Meadows to study herbalism. She has since studied under Wendy Snow-Fogg, Maria Noel Groves and Margi Flint. Additionally, she has worked and volunteered for a dog rescue for the past 5 years and has also studied Veterinary Herbalism with Carol Lizotte. She is currently adjunct faculty in the nursing program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, as well as teaching classes in the Misty Meadows Level Two Certification program. She also loves to cook and make beautiful food and medicine for her loved ones.
