practicum:

HS2 – Practicum Requirement

Our Level One graduates always say their Practicum days were one of their favorite experiences.
So we’ve decided to continue this as a skill-building opportunity of the Level Two program.

Each student is required to complete 15 hours of Practicum to be performed in three 5-hour days: one day in April, June and August.

 Level Two Practicum Goals:

  • Deepen the student’s understanding of plants as they grow in cultivation vs. in the wild

  • Broaden knowledge of organic and permaculture practices to create a sustainable growing environment

  • Learn how to calculate fresh:dry ratios in order to determine production needs.

  • Explore state and federal laws governing Food Safety Management and Good Manufacturing Practices and how they affect the way we grow and process herbs and create Value-Added products

  • Strengthen the connections you made with the spirit medicines of field and forest in Level One, while in Level Two you dive deeper into physical, mental, emotional results people suffer as a result of disconnection

  • Expand student medicine making skills

If a student has a particular area of interest on which they prefer to focus, we’ll do our best to accommodate the request.

Practicum Hours must be scheduled by March 20.  Practicum days are scheduled on Tuesday through Saturday. Practicum hours are 9:30 am – 3:00 pm and include a 30 minute lunch break.
