Chinese Five Element Medicine, also known as Wu Xing, is an ancient system rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It posits that everything in the universe—including our bodies—is composed of five fundamental elements: wood, fire, earth, water, and metal. Each element corresponds to specific aspects of nature, bodily organs, emotions, and senses. Practitioners use this theory to guide herbal treatments, acupuncture, massage, and lifestyle choices. While its scientific validation remains debated, the Five Element Theory enriches our understanding of health and interconnectedness, inviting us to dance harmoniously with nature’s rhythms.
Chris has over thirty-five years (and counting) of deep study and practice in the spiritual, philosophical and healing richness of Chinese Medicine, Buddhism and Taoism. His entryway and continued exploration in this field is unique and separates Chris from most other practitioners of Chinese Medicine in the U.S., whether as acupuncturists or as herbalists. He layers his teaching of Chinese Medicine with his long relationship with medicine elders of the Anishinaabe-Ojibway and Cherokee traditions, for a beautiful layering of healing modalities.
Class begins promptly at 9am There will be a 45-60min lunch break. Please bring your lunch as there will not be time for off-site dining.

This class weekend is part of our Advanced Level 3 Clinical Herbal Program. While anyone is welcome to register, this class is designed for students who are preparing to go into Clinical Practice or are already practicing. A working knowledge of body systems, energetics, formulation, and clinical intake is expected. There will not be time during the course weekend to teach these topics.
Taking this class as an individual weekend will not give any credit towards future Level 3 Certification.
